Applying for Postgraduate Programs
2010 Application Closing Dates:
Trimester 3: Friday 20 August.
Business and Marketing, Nursing, Science and IT programs.
Semester 2: Friday 9 July.
Health, OHS, Education and Arts programs.
Specific Program Recommended Intake Information:
Clinical Epidemiology: Semester 1
Nurse Practitioner: Trimester 2
Public Health: Semester 1 intake only
Mental Health Nursing: all semester and trimester intakes
Graduate Diploma in Midwifery, Graduate Certificate in Clinical Toxicology and Graduate Certificate in Information Technology: applications are no longer being accepted for these programs.
Submitting an Application to Study Online: The application process for online postgraduate programs is very straightforward. Just follow these simple steps:
- Select the postgraduate program or any single courses you would like to study.
Check whether your postgraduate program has a semester or a trimester closing date and view the application closing date as listed above.
Some programs have specific entry requirements so please be sure to check your chosen program's admission criteria.

- Download and read our Instructions for Applying (PDF 36kb).
- Download and complete the
GS Postgraduate Application Form (PDF 662kb).
- Please
make sure you list at least one daytime telephone number and a regularly checked email address on the form.
- If you are also applying for credit please refer to our Credit & Exemptions section for further information and instructions
- If you are from a non-English-speaking background, you need to satisfy the University's English language requirements and provide proof of your English proficiency as part of your application.
- Certified supporting documentation
- If
you need to supply documentary evidence with your application, please
be sure to send only certified copies, do not original documents. Academic
transcripts are not required for programs you have studied at the
University of Newcastle.
- Please also note that certified documents need to be supplied in hard copy by post or in person; they cannot be emailed, scanned or faxed.
- An authorised person of a tertiary or higher
education institution may verify copies of original documents with an
official stamp and signature. Copies may also be certified as true
copies by a Justice of the Peace, a Judge, Magistrate, Legal
Practitioner or Notary. The certifier must provide his or her name,
address, phone number and identification number (if applicable) and the
date on each document.
