Graduate Certificate in Marketing
This program is designed to give students the ability to better evaluate existing and potential market opportunities and to develop strategies that achieve organisational outcomes appropriate for the Australian and international business environment. Students will develop a solid understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of marketing and how they are applied in all contexts.
The Graduate Certificate and Master of Marketing have been developed for students with little or no background in the discipline or those wishing to upgrade their existing knowledge in the field. There is no assumed knowledge requirement for these programs.

Applicants must have a recognised Diploma or a recognised Certificate and two years work experience; or ten years work experience; or successfully completed 20 units of postgraduate University of Newcastle studies and two years work experience.
International students must also satisfy the University's English Language Requirements.
International students will be supported by the University and the Newcastle Business School's current support mechanisms. There will be a requirement of a minimum 6.5 IELTS result or equivalent.

Domestic students with a disability or chronic illness will have their needs met by the NBS in liaison with the Student Support Unit. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students will draw on the assistance and support provided by the Indigenous Higher Education Centre, Umulliko. Students from rural and isolated areas and those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds will e supported through existing University support structures.
Students with special needs should not find it problematic studying on this program. GSBS6370 Strategic Marketing Management and Planning includes a computer simulation but depending on the student need, teaching staff should be able to accommodate most people.

The Newcastle Business School runs courses on a trimester system, i.e. three terms per year. Students may commence studies in January, May or September. Please check term dates on the University website at: www.newcastle.edu.au/dates/.
The Graduate Certificate requires students to complete 40 units, gained through the completion of four courses worth 10 units each. Students are required to complete two courses (20 units) from the Core Courses with the remaining two courses (20 units) being selected from the remainder of Core Courses or from the Directed Courses.
Students enrolled prior to 2007 will be given the option of completing their program under the previous program structure or the current structure.
