How to apply

2012 Application Closing Dates:

Trimester Based Programs

Business and Marketing, Nursing, Property, Science and IT programs.

Trimester 1: Friday, 13th January
Trimester 2: Friday, 4th May
Trimester 3: Friday, 17th August

Semester Based Programs

Health, OHS, Education and Arts programs.

Semester 1: Friday, 10th February
Semester 2: Friday, 6th July

Specific Program Recommended Intake Information:

Clinical Epidemiology: Semester 1
Public Health: Semester 1 intake only

Graduate Diploma in Midwifery, Graduate Certificate in Clinical Toxicology and Graduate Certificate in Information Technology: applications are no longer being accepted for these programs.

Applying

The application process for online postgraduate programs is very straightforward. To ensure that the process goes smoothly for you, please be sure to complete the following steps before applying.

  1. Select the postgraduate program or any single courses you would like to study.
  2. View the program fees and terms and conditions.
  3. Check whether your postgraduate program has a semester or a trimester closing date and view the application closing date as listed above. Some programs have specific entry requirements so please be sure to check your chosen program's admission criteria.
  4. If you are from a non-English-speaking background, you need to satisfy the University's English language requirements and provide proof of your English proficiency as part of your application.
  5. Please make sure you list at least one daytime telephone number and a regularly checked email address on the form.

There are two ways you can apply: online or with a hardcopy paper application.

Applying online:

  1. Click the apply online button below.
  2. At the end of the application process, you will see a cover sheet listing any documentation that you need to supply to support your application.
  3. Print cover sheet and attach to your certified documents. Please be sure that all documentation is correctly certified before sending to GradSchool.  (see below)
  4. Send to:

Online Application

Submitting a hardcopy application:

  1. Download and complete the Postgraduate Application form (PDF 662kb).
  2. If you need to supply documentary evidence with your application, please be sure to send only certified copies, DO NOT send original documents. Academic transcripts are not required for programs you have studied at the University of Newcastle.
  3. Once you are comfortable and have all your supporting documentation ready post your application form and certified documents to us:

Certified supporting documentation

If you need to supply documentary evidence with your application, please be sure to send only certified copies, DO NOT send original documents. Academic transcripts are not required for programs you have studied at the University of Newcastle.

Please also note that certified documents need to be supplied in hard copy by post or in person; they cannot be emailed, scanned or faxed.

An authorised person of a tertiary or higher education institution may verify copies of original documents with an official stamp and signature. Copies may also be certified as true copies by a Justice of the Peace, a Judge, Magistrate, Legal Practitioner or Notary. The certifier must provide his or her name, address, phone number and identification number (if applicable) and the date on each document.
