Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety at the University of Newcastle has been designed for health and safety professionals to update their knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practice.

Keeping abreast of occupational health and safety principles and practice is essential for health and safety professionals, to ensure they meet complex and changing requirements and legislation introduced by State and Federal Governments.

This six month full-time program will provide fundamental grounding in the key areas of workplace health and safety including occupational health, occupational hygiene and toxicology, occupational health and safety law and current practice in occupational health and safety.

Knowledge of legislation, organisational requirements and the work environment play a significant role for occupational health and safety officers, inspectors and consultants in developing, implementing and educating employees on key health and safety initiatives in the workplace.

At the successful completion of your studies you will work in roles such as an occupational health and safety officer, inspector or consultant.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor Degree; or by special entry possess relevant non-university qualifications and at least 3 years relevant professional work experience in a designated health and safety role.
