Master of Applied Management (Nursing) (Online)

The Master of Applied Management (Nursing) is intended for graduate nurses who wish to further their knowledge and advance their skills in management. The program will be of particular interest to nurses working in or planning to move into management positions in nursing.

The Master of Applied Management (Nursing) is offered fully online to international and domestic students.

Clinical nurse managers. Nursing administration.

Registered nurses with Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent. Registered nurses without a degree are also invited to apply.

Foundations of nursing knowledge, nursing theory, legal and ethical issues, fundamentals of research, human bioscience, psychology, sociology related to practice. Principles of investigative approaches in nursing, concepts and theories relevant to practice, contemporary nursing issues. Academic reading and writing skills, ability to access and evaluate information from a variety of sources, skills in critical analysis, critical judgment, synthesis and evaluation. Ability to conceptualise practice. Demonstrated Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council competencies.

University rules allow for a maximum of 50% of external credit up to 40 units may be awarded to applicants who have completed postgraduate coursework provided by recognised institutions.

Credit may be available for previous studies on the basis of an individual assessment for each applicant. Credit will be awarded in accordance with University Policy and Faculty Guidelines. This program is available to offshore International students only.

The Faculty accepts that it is responsible for providing reasonable accommodations for students with special needs, in liaison with the Student Support Unit, which offers practical assistance and advice to students with a disability or chronic illness. There is an early exit option for a Graduate Certificate of Applied Management (Nursing) awarded at 40 units, 20 units from Core and 20 units from Group B Courses.

Two trimesters full time or part time equivalent depending upon course availability (most courses are only offered once a year). All courses are offered on a trimester (3 terms of teaching) basis. Nurses can begin their program of study in any trimester.

Candidates need to complete 80 units, 30 units from Core, 10 units from Group A (offered by the School of Nursing and Midwifery) and 40 units from Group B Management courses (offered through GraduateSchool.com).
