Candidates will normally hold a Bachelor Degree of the University of Newcastle or any other recognised tertiary institution. It is assumed that applicants also have the equivalent of two years of relevant workplace experience.

To qualify for the Master of Leadership and Management in Education program students must complete 80 units which consists of:

  • Core Courses (20 units)
  • A Specialisation - School Leadership, Higher Education Leadership or TVET Leadership (40 Units)
  • Electives (20 units)

Each specialisation requires the completion of:

  • Compulsory Courses (10 units)
  • Directed Courses (30 units) or Educational Research Directed Courses (40 units - see note below)

Please note the following about the Educational Research Directed Courses option:

  • Program Convenor permission is required to enrol in Educational Research Directed Courses.
  • Students must enrol in EDUC6048, EDUC6026 and EDUC6027 and one other research methodology course.
  • 10 units of electives will be used to make up the units in the Educational Research Directed Courses.
  • The Minor Thesis is to be completed in the area of the specialisation.

  • If you have completed EDUC6032, you will received credit for EDUC6352 or an elective
  • If you have completed EDUC6033, you will receive credit for EDUC6450 or an elective
  • If you have completed EDUC6034, you will receive credit for EDUC6353
  • If you have completed EDUC6035, you will received credit for EDUC6451 or an elective
  • If you have completed EDUC6038, you will receive credit for an elective
  • If you have completed EDUC6050, you will receive credit for EDUC6049 or an elective.
